FedEx Small Business Grants Contest Open Now for Entries

Small business owners now have a chance to win a $50,000 prize for their company through FedEx’s Small Business Grants Contest.

The 2019 grant contest, the seventh-year FedEx has run the contest, will give 10 winners a total of $200,000 in cash prizes plus FedEx office and print services. The contest will give eight Bronze Prize winners a $15,000 cash prize and $1,000 of FedEx Office print and business services, one Silver Prize winner $30,000 and $5,000 in FedEx Office print and business services and one Grand Prize winner $50,000 and $7,500 in FedEx Office print and business services.

The contest opened Feb. 19 and the deadline to submit entries is March 25. The voting period will begin Feb. 27 through April 1 and the top 100 contestants will be announced April 5. Winners of the Bronze, Silver and Grand prizes will be announced April 29. Participants must submit a short portfolio about their small business story and its services. After putting together a portfolio, the contestant must upload photos that capture the spirit of their business. Contestants must also create a one-minute video pitch for their business and then get the word out for others to vote for their company to win the grant.

For 2018 Rumi Spice won the Grand Prize for the FedEx Small Business Grants Contest.

FedEx wrote that Kim Jung and Keith Alaniz founded their company, Rumi Spice, to work directly with Afghan farmers to import their high-quality saffron to the United States.
“Since they started, they have opened three processing facilities, developed a network of more than 300 farmers and hired nearly 2,000 Afghan women during harvest season,” FedEx wrote in a post. “The company now makes up 3.6 percent of Afghanistan’s total foreign direct investment in agriculture.”

The Contest is open to only legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia who at the time of entry are independent owners/operators of an eligible for-profit small business that is domiciled in the fifty (50) United States or District of Columbia which has been in continuous operation selling a product or service for not less than six (6) months at the start of the contest. In order to be considered an eligible “small business” for purposes of this Contest, the business must meet all of the following criteria:

The contest participant must be at least eighteen years of age at the time of submitting their contest profile. The business must be currently active, lawful, have all necessary and required licenses and registrations. The participant must be an authorized agent of the registered business and the business must be in good standing as of the date of submission and throughout the contest.
To enter the contest, the business must have between 1-99 employees on its payroll and cannot be a previous FedEx Small Business Grant Contest Winner. Neither the business itself or any owner of or investor in the business is a previous FedEx Small Business Grant Contest Winner;
