DxOMark, an independent benchmark that assesses the quality of smartphones, lenses and cameras, ranked the brand-new Galaxy S10 + as No. 1 on its Selfie Scale.

The phone received a score of 109 overall, sharing the No.1 Mobile ranking with the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. The Galaxy S10 + received the first place spot for its rear camera in the DxOMark Mobile scale. The new phone received a score of 96 for its front camera.

DxOMark’s review stated in its ranking that the S10 comes with a 6.4-inch Quad HD+ AMOLED Display and a triple-lens setup in its main camera. The primary 12Mp camera with a variable aperture lens is combined with a 16Mp ultra-wide-angle module and a 12Mp 2x telephoto module.

Key camera specifications:

Triple-camera setup

DxOMark notes that the Galaxy S10 + targert exposure is “spot-on,” dropping off only in low light situations “but the S10+ really shines with its dynamic range.”

“The camera captures a noticeably wider tonal range than its closest rivals, with images showing better detail in both the shadow and highlight areas of the frame,” the review states. “Our testers also liked the S10+’s color rendering, which is pleasant under most conditions. Only in low light can the colors come out a little dull. White balance is generally accurate as well.”

Samsung stated that the Galaxy S10+ is a testament to a decade of Galaxy innovations with its breakthrough display, new camera technology and intelligent performance.

“Building on Samsung’s camera leadership – Super Speed Dual Pixel and Dual Aperture – Galaxy S10+ introduces new camera technology and advanced intelligence that make it easy to take epic shots and videos,” Samsung stated in a press release.
